Panettone Bread Pudding

Panettone is a sweet fruit bread or cake ,originally from Italy. It has the texture of bread. It's enjoyed during Christmas and new year . This bread pudding can be served as breakfast or dessert.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 lb panettone bread or cake ( 325 gms approx )

  • 4 slices sqaw bread or any bread

  • 1/2 cup milk

  • 4 eggs

  • zest of one orange

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

  • 3 bananas

  • 1/2 cup walnuts

  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup ( optional )

Steps

  1. Pre-heat the oven to 350 degrees centigrade .

  2. Break eggs into the milk and whisk well. To this add vanilla, cinnamon and orange zest.

  3. Tear bite size pieces of panettone and arrange them on a baking dish.

  4. Add slices of banana on top and spread it evenly.

  5. Next spinkle walnut pieces.

  6. Chop the sqaw bread slices into cubes. Arrange this on top .

  7. Pour the milk-egg mixture slowly , so it gets absorbed into the bread.

  8. Drizzle maple syrup if needed.

  9. Bake for 25 minutes till the top is slightly brown.

  10. Dust with powdered sugar and serve hot.
