Breakfast made simple.

Breakfast is an important part of our daily life. A good breakfast fuels you throughout the day , providing enough energy, with vitamins and minerals that is essential for keeping you active. Sometimes, we don't find enough time to prepare breakfast. This easy steamed tubers with a smoothie keeps you satisfied , without being hungry between meals. It boosts brain power and helps focus more on our daily chores.



A tuber is a bulb like edible , underground stem, packed with nutrients and starch.

They are low in fat and calories. These tubers can be bought ahead, in bulk and have a longer shelf life.

There are a number of varieties of tuberous root vegetables such as potatoes, sweet potatoes ,

yams ,yucca, taro etc.,



Sweet potatoes , is a sweet , starchy root vegetable belonging to the morning glory family.

They are high in antioxidants and good for skin, eyes and bones.

Yams are a good source of fiber, and have health benefits like heart ,brain health and improves blood sugar control.



Yuca , also known as cassava has a waxy outer layer and a starchy inside which is high in carbohydrates, potassium, calcium, iron, and selenium. They are a good source of vitamin C , and helps in boosting the immune system. They have a nutty taste and grainy texture and are low in fat.





The root is covered with wax to preserve it . It is said that yuca has traces of cyanide, but the levels are very low. It is always safe to peel and cook the yuca.







Steamed sweet potato, yam and yuca

1. Cut the sweet potato and yam into two or three pieces.

2. Peel the skin from the yuca and cut into pieces.

3. Place them in a steamer basket ( instantpot) . Place the basket inside the instantpot and steam for 10 mins

4. Once the steam is released, cut into pieces , sprinkle with salt and pepper. Drizzle melted coconut oil on top and serve.



Serve with acai, banana and chia seed smoothie for a complete breakfast.
